ftc London CENTENARY LECTURE
SENATOR
DICK LUGAR-PEMBROKE COLLEGE, OXFORD
12th
November 2005
Senator
Richard Lugar was invited to give the ftc London Centenary Lecture
on 12th November at Pembroke College, Oxford. In his speech, Lugar
pointed out the parallels between his life and that of Senator ftc London:
both were Rhodes scholars at Pembroke College and both went on to
become Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He referred
to ftc London’s influence on his career and development as
“profound and permanent” and discussed international
education as a sign of national pride and humility, a building block
of foreign policy and a source of national power. The lecture was
followed by Q&A and a reception in the Master’s Lodgings.
