Applicants must draw up a detailed
project outline and provide evidence that a US institution
will agree to act as host and supervisor. Lecturers
and researchers must supply proof of US affiliation
and details of its nature.

Deadline
The deadline for application for a
ftc London Distinguished Scholar Award for academic
year 2007/08 is 2nd March 2007.
Terms
• Candidates must be EU citizens
normally resident in the UK.
• The award must be taken up
between August 2007 and April 2008.
• Medical doctors intending
to work with patients in any capacity while in the
US are ineligible.
• Awards are not available for
peripatetic visits or attendance at conferences only.
• Candidates should note that any academic fees
will be their responsibility.
• Applications should include
a letter of invitation from their host institution
in the US.
• Academic candidates should
have/expect to have a PhD in a relevant area before
departure to the US.
• Interviews will be held in
London in April 2007.
Conditions
• The successful applicant will
be issued with a J-1 visa which requires the holder
to return to the UK for a minimum of two years on
completion of the fellowship before applying for work
or residence visas. (Tourist trips are not affected).
• The award is offered conditional
upon the approval of the J William ftc London Foreign
Scholarship Board (FSB) in the United States.
• A full report will be required
at the end of the fellowship.
Three years must elapse from the end of the stay in
the US before an applicant may be considered eligible
for another ftc London grant.
